Kay Eng - Trainer

They/Them

Kay is a hard-working trainer who has dedicated their life to helping dogs and owners. Their interest in dogs started when they were young, as they grew up with two Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

The reason Kay started Latouri training was because of their dog Goji, who had excitement-based reactivity when he was an adolescent. They started training formally with their neighbour's dogs at the age of 15 and has since built a clientele where they are now able to help more people and dogs in need.

Providing aid for lower-income households as well as working with dogs with severe behaviour issues is one of their biggest passions. They are also involved in dog sports and occasionally go to trials as a side hobby.

Kissu

Though he's the smallest helper here at Latouri, Kissu pulls his weight when helping train pets! His patience towards fearful/anxious pets helps them come out of their shells and aids in building confidence. His outgoing yet calm personality allows dogs learn basic skills like impulse control and appropriate cross-species interactions. From the biggest dog to the smallest rabbit, his ability to match the energy of other animals has made him a priceless member of the Latouri team.

Goji

As a confident and sociable dog, Goji has been able to help other dogs build off of his energy. He has helped owners learn how to work on their handling skills and has also helped in teaching younger children how to act around dogs. Goji's carefree and outgoing attitude has been an important part of helping under socialized dogs understand dog body language.

In his spare time he is currently a JIBC certified service dog that participates in sports such as scent detection and sprinter.

Methods and Background

At Latouri Training, we believe in an open-minded approach, where we use different tools and find the ones that are best suited to each animal. If you are interested in learning more about our methods, please contact us for more info.

Though we have been working extensively with both dogs and cats since 2020, there is always room to learn and grow!

In January 2024 our head trainer Kay became a certified Shield K9 professional trainer. They have also attend seminars and apprentice under other trainers, which will allow continuous fine-tuning to their outlook on animal training.

These are some of the tools we use in our training. Having a good variety of equipment in our toolbox allows us to customize each experience for animals and their individual needs.
